Introducing: the DC17 “Animal”. Every cat lover should have one.

It comes with an impressive features list:
5 year warranty
Ergonomic carry handle
Instant stair cleaning
On-board tool storage

The famous purple cylinders are part of the ‘Level 3 Root Cyclone’ suction system.

Of course, the first room we tried it in was our master bedroom, which has carpeting and, frankly, too many darn cats.
Outcome: I did not remember that our floor was this color!
And, as an added benefit, the cats got scared away when the turbine engaged.

It would be hard to beat this deal: Fry’s, for a limited time, offered this printer for $49 after mail-in rebate.

It’s a dye-sublimation printer, which means that, when it comes to printing photographs, no inkjet comes even close: just like argentic photographs, no pixels are visible. That’s because, technically, there is no space between pixels.

Thus far, I am extremely pleased with the quality of the various prints I’ve made.

It is reasonably fast, about 1 minute/print, and the prints are dry as they come out of the printer. That’s one of these mundane things that it would be foolish to overlook.

Samsung promises that, because of the printing technique used, prints will not fade.

The printer comes with 10 sheets of photo paper and, of course, it doesn’t take more than an hour for the exalted wannabe photograph to go through all of them.

I was happy because I had bought 30 more sheets a few days earlier; I was busy patting myself in the back when I realized that dye sublimation really doesn’t work with inkjet photo paper. I have to buy special paper!

Oh, well, including the ribbon, each photograph costs around c40.

Pros: lab-level quality, photos are immediately dry, good printing speed, the printer is portable, allowing you to organize your own print party wherever you go -as long as there’s an electrical socket available-, bright LCD screen and user-friendly menus, can print from a computer, memory cards, cell phones…
Cons: prints are on the expensive side, printer is more transportable than portable, 2″ LCD screen is a tad smallish

I feel somewhat bad for writing that Ali G is a funny guy, but this one really made me howl with laughter.

According to ananova.com:

London – Ali G and his film crew have been forced to flee a mob of neo-Nazis while working in the US.

Sacha Baron Cohen was playing a camp Austrian fashion reporter called Bruno when he angered white supremacists at a rally in Georgia.

A cameraman was attacked after the comic wound up one of the mob by admiring the racists’ look – and asking if they used moisturiser.

Producer Dan Mazer told the New York Times: “I can’t remember what the trigger question was, but all of a sudden the guy we were interviewing exploded.

“He started physically attacking the cameraman and reaching for his gun. We legged it like no one’s ever legged it.

“In the meantime, two guys dressed as Arab sheiks got wind of it and started yelling at us. As we’re driving away, we see the main Nazi guy chasing us followed by his coterie of Arab sheik Nazis, all shaking their fists. It was like a scene at the end of Scooby-Doo.

“That was our last day in America. By that time we’d taken it to the brink, and I thought: “Enough. I’m going to write sitcoms now”.
